It’s been an emotional week

IT’S BEEN A TOUGH WEEK
..particularly if you are a Black or brown person in the UK. In case you missed it, the media hyped up some racially motivated attacks and there were clashes with police around towns in this small island in Europe we call home. Many of us were triggered: scared and/or angry.

In the Women of Colour Brighton private Facebook group, we mobilised quickly to offer an online Zoom call for anyone who wanted to breathe, rest and connect. Others were part of an incredible show of unity where thousands of anti-racists gathered in central Brighton.
From Ibram X. Kendi’s book, How To Be Anti-Racist:

“One either allows racial inequities to persevere, as a racist, or confronts racial inequities, as an anti-racist. There is no in-between safe space of ‘not racist.’ The claim of ‘not racist’ neutrality is a mask for racism.”

My next in person event for Women of Colour on 7 Sept is now Pay What You Can. There are a few tickets left so please do pass on the details or sign up if you fit the remit.
